We should emulate the compassion of Guan Yin to transform our minds.
Let the mind settle and become serene.
Consequently, by generating thepower of love,
we can resolve many environmental and global crises.
By emulating Avalokiteshvara’s immeasurable loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, we also aspire to relieve suffering, rescue those in distress, and dedicate ourselves to the welfare of beings.
Guan Yin had, in fact, already attained Buddhahood in the distant past. Yet, by the power of her great compassion and aspirations for sentient beings, she chose to manifest in the form of a bodhisattva.
When, through recitation of the Great Compassion Mantra, each moment of mind accords with Guan Yin’s Ten Minds, afflictions naturally cease to arise.
Guan Yin (Avalokiteshvara) is closely connected with beings of the Mainland. She is forever responsive to the calling of suffering beings. That’s why I’m always encouraging people to practice the Dharma Doors of Guan Yin.
Today at LJM, there are the Tara statue and a Vairotsana Guan Yin statue from Mt. Putuo in our shrine hall. Guan Yin safeguards and guides us to see the clear light nature of the mind.
