On March 6, 2026, six shramaneras at Mahā Kusalā Yāma Monastery in Lashio formally received the full ordination and thereby became fully ordained bhikkhus. We express our deep gratitude to the venerable elders and bhikkhus from various communities who came together to accomplish this auspicious and solemn ordination ceremony. With the support and guidance of the elders, the newly ordained bhikkhus are able to adhere and uphold the authentic Dharma, enabling the true teaching to be upheld, propagated, and further developed. We also hope that the elders will continue to guide, encourage, and care for these newly ordained monks, so that their monasticism may make ever greater contributions to the enduring presence of the authentic Dharma.
Through the monasticism, the Buddhadharma is transmitted from generation to generation. Monastics guide and teach sentient beings to transcend suffering and attain happiness by practicing the three higher trainings of ethical disciplines, meditative stabilization, and wisdom, ultimately leading to the realization of nirvana. Here we also exhort the newly ordained monks to maintain an unbroken transmission of mindfulness, to carry forward the vital lineage of the Buddha’s authentic teaching, and through the power of their aspirations ensure the continued flourishing of the Dharma. Monastics serve as the “eyes and ears of devas and humans”; therefore, they should benefit both humans and celestial beings through the Buddhadharma, enabling them to enhance their aspirations and compassion and thereby benefit even greater numbers of sentient beings.
To the families of the shramaneras who have come from Shan State to Yangon: by consenting your children to enter the monastic path, you have upheld an excellent and noble cultural tradition of Myanmar. Indeed, this is something rare and profoundly meaningful. Because you possess such right mindfulness, the Buddhadharma can pass on without interruption.
Finally, we also extend our heartfelt thanks to the sponsors and supporters present here today. Through your generous support, the sangha is able to practice the path with peace of mind, allowing the Buddhadharma to continue its transmission and bringing stability and harmony to society and the nation. May the merit generated by this occasion be dedicated to the long presence of the Dharma, and may all sentient beings ultimately attain perfect awakening.
