- Part of "The Spiritual Ecology" Series, authored by Master Hsin Tao
The Five Poisons - Greed, Hatred, Ignorance, Arrogance, and Doubt - that preoccupy most people are the root cause for all our sufferings besides giving rise to ecological crises. Anguish hatred is the culprit for confrontation, dispute, hate, and war that culminates in the nuclear arms race and penetration of terrorism, to name just a few. Greed, on the other hand, brings about embezzlement, prey, utilitarianism, and cut-throat competition to culminate in capitalism and consumerism that threaten to deplete the Earth's resources and inflict severe and irrevocable damage upon ecology.
Life is the extension and expression of genetic memories, and it follows that ecology emerged from spirituality. Thus accordingly, a viable turning point to turn things around in the best interest of the Earth would be when spirituality awakens, and people correctly identify the root cause of ecological crises. We are best advised to repent and rid ourselves of all negativities from within. Lay down ego-centric attachments, eradicate all Five Poisons, flip our hearts from negatively to positively inclined, from passive to pro-active, from pessimism to optimism, and from indifference to Love. Only when we return to the origin of spirituality, we can repurpose energy for vibrations of the same wavelength that accounts for the nature of the inter-reliant coexistence of all forms of existence, and that same wavelength happens to match the pulse of life of a diversified symbiosis.
