- Part of "The Spiritual Ecology" Series, authored by Master Hsin Tao
All awakenings must begin with education. The future University for Life & Peace (ULP) in Myanmar, is a global platform of education on spiritual ecology.
Spirituality exceeds the material world, and spiritual ecology spells out as “spirituality is present in all forms of existence.” Equality applies to all and partnership denotes all relations in that regard. It is thus unfit for us to adopt a man-centric mindset for the baseline of our universal presence to justify our attempt at having the world at our disposal and exploit its resources excessively while denying others their fair share of survival. Instead, we must embrace the concept of “center in all forms of existence” and understand that each species plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.
Spirituality can be perceived in the organic phenomena of ecology, which suggests why mankind, the Earth, and all other forms of existence together constitute the collective origin of a living community in a diversified symbiosis and an interdependent co-existence. As a result, compassion is repaid with positivity and hostility reaps backlashes for sure. Such is a sketchy rendition of the Dharma law of karma for cause and effect.
Therefore, it is desirable to optimize the University for Life & Peace as an educational platform to fuse spiritual ecology into the respective domain knowledge of all walks of life for cross-disciplinary cooperation, so that future mission-critical action-taking is backed by both knowledge and spiritual ecology.
