To say that ecology and spirituality is one can be referred to as stating that all people have a cognitive capacity. What, then, is cognition? Cognition is a capacity of awareness, and to be aware of things is an attribute of spirituality. Thus accordingly, spirituality is capable of cognition, comprehension, reasoning, and creativity.
Let's take one step further and say that spirituality is a cognitive awakening that resides in everyone, and it is a difference of degree how much people know about cognitive awareness. If you have a comprehensive understanding of cognitive awakening, you will know that the entire spirituality is community of life; if you only understand your own needs, then it will be limited to a small space.
We need to know what and where cognitive awakening is, and whether we own it as part of our birthright. We are simply too unfamiliar with it and we employ it without knowing what it is. Spirituality comes innately equipped with empathy, mercifulness, and compassion. Spirituality would be incomplete to fall short of these attributes.
Therefore, it follows that cognitive awakening can be very big or small in dimension. If selflessness is part of its nature, it is sacred and all-encompassing. Selfishness, on the other hand, limits the dimensions of cognitive awakening. Put succinctly, egocentrism gives rise to tunnel vision, and cognitive awakening suffers, making life a constant challenge amidst a world of like-minded peers who are just as pressurizing and competitive.
